Karen National Union vice Chair Person P'doh Saw Kweh Htoo Win Explain Myanmar Peace Process and Challenges to Peace Leadership and Research Institute

Peace Leadership and Research Institute under the program of Thabay Education Foundation organized a Discussing Event Titled "Myanmar Peace Process: Its Challenges and Possible Way Forward" on 19th January, 2019. P'doh Saw Kweh Htoo Win, Vice Chairman of Karen National Union (KNU) was invited to attend and lead the discussion of the event.

 

Karen National Union is actively participated in Myanmar Peace Process and worked hard to get Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) said P'doh Saw Kweh Htoo Win during the explanation of Myanmar peace Process. 

 

Currently, there are a lot of challenges with Myanmar Peace Process. Even though we all are looking forward to build Federal Democracy country, every stake holders and responsible person implement NCA based on their own understanding. As a result, our negotiation is block and seems to be ignored. Therefore, this is seemed to be more difficult for us said P'doh Saw Kweh Htoo Win.

 

As Karen National Union (KNU) has announced to withdrawn on formal talk, it doesn't mean that KNU stop or ignore NCA. KNU is finding the way of how to implement the purpose of NCA through informal talk.


 

When the participant discuss the formation of discussion, P'doh Saw Kweh Htoo Win also remark that to build a Federal Democracy country with fully of justice, equality and freedom, the understanding between us is very needed. We need to try harder to build trust between one another.

 

In summary, the reforming of Myanmar politics is needed. Furthermore, educators, peace expertise and educated young leaders need to participate more in Myanmar peace process.

 

During the discussion, P'doh Saw Kweh Htoo Win also added that, he welcome and encourages the student who gives their effort on studying. He believes that the outcome that this program provides will be helpful and Myanmar ethnic's conflict, civil war and many crises can be solved.

 

Students of Peace Leadership and Research Institute, representative of civil society organization and some interested person were participated in the event.
