The Karen National Union (KNU) Central Standing Committee (CSC) third annual meeting was successfully held from 3rd to 7th February 2015, at Lay Wah, KNU headquarters. 50 CSC members participated at this annual meeting.
The meeting reviewed 2013-2014 KNU activities, and laid down programs that are suitable with the current political environment. Furthermore, the meeting reviewed and discussed the political situation of Burma, the nationwide ceasefire agreement, and future political dialogue.
KNU General Secretary P’doh Saw Kwe Htoo Win said regarding the meeting, "We discussed KNU departments' activities, analysed the current political situation, and planned for the future. We also took time and inclusively discussed the pros and cons of the current political situation, and gained majority consensus among the CSC members”.
The CSC members agreed that it would accept an invitation from President U Thein Sein and his wife Daw Khin Khin Win to attend the 68th Union Day State Dinner and Reception. The CSC members nominated the representatives to attend the event. Additionally, it was determined that if any statement or press issues should arise the KNU representatives are allowed to cooperate with the other ethnic armed organisations without compromising the KNU policy and position. Chairman General Saw Mutu Sae Poe and General Secretary P’doh Saw Kwe Htoo Win were selected to attend the event on February 12 of this year.
