Ten members led by the Karen National Union (KNU) President Gen. Saw Mutu Say Poe and the specially invited representatives, office staff members and technical supporting group left from the KNU Supreme Headquarters on October 12, 2015, for the signing of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) together with the ethnic armed resistance organizations, which can sign the agreement.
- After signing the NCA, the KNU will hold the Joint Implementation Coordination Meeting concerning the implementation of the NCA and discuss for the formation of necessary joint implementation committees, for the emergence of political dialogue.
With this press release, the KNU would like to state that – from the termination of civil war and the building of genuine peace, together with indispensable personages, on the basis of resolving political problem by political means through dialogue and negotiation, the KNU will endeavor on until the establishment of a Union in line with the democratic and federal systems, having full guarantee for national equality and self-determination, and in accordance with Panlong Spirit and results of the political dialogue.
